And with that, we knew we were in for an interesting evening. We called ahead, but the waitlist had about 20 parties in front of me for the capacity crowd at the Golden Apple Dinner Theater. The show was free, but evidently remarkably popular. Our host(esse)s for the evening were Miss Beneva Fruitville and Lindsay Carlton. They informed us of the evening's rules - including everyone saying "O" with their arms overhead in an O shape every time an O number was called - we found out later that when O-69 is called, Marvin Gaye starts to blast, and everyone gets a free jello shot. Four rounds of bingo were played, and in after the first and third games, Beneva and Lindsay gave us performances.... The prizes for winning? "Cheap-ass bottle of wine"
The crowd was quite the diverse mix... from the retirees that you expect to see in Sarasota to the gay/lesbian population you'd expect to see at a drag show, to the standard straight crowd... and no one was exempt from ridicule by the ladies. So... if you ever find yourself in St. Pete on a Friday night... it's well worth the price of admission.

Wow...that must have been an interesting night. I've been to one drag show...years ago. An eye opening experience and quite funny.
