Carving Pumkins!

Ok... so we waited a LONG time to get this done... but we finally did carve our pumpkins - on Halloween day!

We went with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme after seeing some pictures of other people's attempts online We ended up quite proud of them, having drawn our patterns ourselves and then carving them into the pumpkins.

It turns out that it was good that we waited so long. The very next day a flyer delivery guy (at least that's who we are blaming it on) picked up Laura's Jack Skellington and dropped him on our porch. Not so much of a smash but a clear drop and break. Grrr. And, within the next day, Oogie boogie had caved in himself and started to mold, courtesy of the Florida heat and humidity. Turns out pumpkins don't like the heat.

And -for the first time - November 6th to be exact - it feels like fall. Temps dipped into the 40s and topped out in the mid 60s. It somehow skipped the whole 70s as only a couple of weeks ago we were sitting in the 80s and 90s with awful humidity. So we went straight from air conditioning to having the heat on. Weird. It is supposed to warm back up to a much more mild temp, though. I gotta say, this kind of Florida weather makes sense. Maybe those snowbirds are on to something.
